Shenandoah National Park

Shenandoah National Park

We made it to our end destination, Washington DC.  Yesterday we left the Shenandoah National Park and headed East.  Once down from the mountains all human activity picked up and once near DC it seemed like a real madhouse after our quiet week getting here.  From a busy highway we turned into the Greenbelt National Park, a large park with some 175 campsites.  Only 12 or so sites were filled, and are nearest neighbors are a young Dutch couple from the area in the Netherlands I grew up in. Small world!

Washington DC 02This morning we took the Metro from near the campsite to downtown DC where we spent a good part of the day sightseeing

The plans for tomorrow are similar, before we’ll start heading home on Friday.
