Shenandoah National Park, VA

German Valley, Virgina 01

Scenery along the way

Today’s 3 hour journey through the mountains brought us to the Shenandoah National Park in the Appalachian Mountains in Virginia.

Another beauty, this National Park is over 100 miles long and was one of the many CCC projects of the 1930’s.  A 2 lane road was built along the entire length of the park, adjacent to a section of the more than 2000 mile long Appalachian Trail.

The weather continues to cooperate as we slowly work our way to Washington DC, where we have reservations in another National Park, Greenbelt National Park, just 12 miles North of the Washington National Mall.  Bus & subway is available from the park entrance to downtown DC.  We plan on being there from Tuesday until Friday, before heading home
